Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up ten more assists than your opponent, a fact the Pius X Thunderbolts proved on Friday. They blew past North Platte, posting a 58-31 win on the road. Given Pius X's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while North Platte is ranked 129th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sidda Hagedorn was the offensive standout of the matchup as she scored ten points along with five rebounds. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for her. Kate Miller was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Addison Uehling, who scored seven points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Uehling has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Keyala Williams, who scored ten points.
Pius X's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for North Platte, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.
Pius X will be playing in front of their home fans against Columbus at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday. As for North Platte, they will head out on the road to face off against Kearney Catholic at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Kearney Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
