Basketball Recap: Mount Hope Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Mount Hope Christian Academy played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 78-42 defeat at the hands of the Summit Christian Academy Falcons. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-20.

Mount Hope Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was TREY WILLIAMS, who posted 12 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave WILLIAMS a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was CAYDEN SNYDER, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, Mount Hope Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 11 consecutive games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Summit Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chance Watkins, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 24 boards. Watkins is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. MJ Patton was another key player, going 9 for 18 on his way to 23 points and five boards.

Mount Hope Christian Academy moved to 12-12 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for Summit Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season.

Mount Hope Christian Academy has already played their next matchup, a 71-41 loss against Calvary Baptist Academy on the 30th. As for Summit Christian Academy, they will take on Grace Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Summit Christian Academy will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
