Wellington has gone 9-0-1 against Seminole Ridge recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Wolverines will host the Hawks at 6:30 p.m. Wellington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Wellington is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Florida's top teams: Doral Academy, who was ranked first at the time (Wellington was ranked 13th). The Wolverines fell just short of the Firebirds by a score of 2-1 on Thursday.
Wellington saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabby D'Arcangelo, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Seminole Ridge got the win against Dr. Joaquin Garcia on Tuesday by a conclusive 13-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.
Seminole Ridge also got a great performance from Zarah Lee as she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits.
On the hitting side, Cameron Moro was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Haven Berryhill, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Seminole Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Wellington's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4. As for Seminole Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.
Seminole Ridge's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Wellington has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Seminole Ridge, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will Wellington keep running through batters, or will the Hawks buck the trend?
Wellington came out on top in a nail-biter against Seminole Ridge in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 3-1. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
