The Niangua Cardinals on the road again on Thursday and play against the Southern Missouri RUSH * at 8:30 p.m. on January 25th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Niangua posted their biggest win since December 8, 2023 on Tuesday. They really took it to Gloria Deo Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 69-39 victory on the road. Niangua pushed the score to 60-29 by the end of the third, a deficit Gloria Deo Academy cut but never quite recovered from.
Niangua's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Clayton Henderson, who scored 28 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Scheetz, who scored 21 points along with seven steals and five assists.
Meanwhile, Southern Missouri RUSH blew past Hollister, posting a 74-28 win on the road. Given Southern Missouri RUSH's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while Hollister is ranked 449th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Niangua's win bumped their record up to 13-1. As for Southern Missouri RUSH, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 24-10.
Niangua came up short against Southern Missouri RUSH in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 67-56. Can Niangua avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
