When it comes to explaining why Riesel lost, one person who can't be blamed is Trent Hickerson. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hickerson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Payton Hoelscher, who scored four points along with four steals.
Mart's win bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Riesel, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mart will face off against Marlin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Marlin presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mart in Texas (Marlin is ranked 508th, while Mart is ranked 1403rd). As for Riesel, they will head out on the road to take on Hubbard at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
