Basketball Recap: Lily Fox and Chloe Ponton Secure Win for Donovan/St. Anne

It's playoff time, and Donovan/St. Anne had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Grace Christian Academy Crusaders by a score of 59-46 on Saturday. This was a revenge game for Donovan/St. Anne: when they faced off against Grace Christian Academy last Thursday, they had to take a 36-33 loss.

Leading Donovan/St. Anne to victory were Chloe Ponton and Lily Fox. Ponton went 6-for-15 on her way to 20 points along with six rebounds and five steals, while Fox dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten boards. Fox is becoming a predictor of Donovan/St. Anne's success: when she posts at least eight boards the team is 2-1 (and 12-13 when she doesn't). Bailey Henneike was another key player, putting up eight points and four steals.

Donovan/St. Anne smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Miranda Glenn, who posted eight points in addition to six rebounds and six blocks. Thanks to that strong game, Glenn now owns an excellent 45.3% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Jorgensen, who went 8-for-15 en route to 19 points.

The win got Donovan/St. Anne back to even at 14-14. As for Grace Christian Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-22 record this season.

Donovan/St. Anne wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 58-28 defeat against Dwight on the 17th. Grace Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
