The Triton Hawks won the last time they faced the Pine Forest Trojans, and things went their way on Friday too. Triton enjoyed a cozy 69-51 win over Pine Forest. The win made it back-to-back wins for Triton.
Triton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Romello Pegues, who scored 22 points. Pegues hasn't dropped below 15 points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was B. J. Surles, who scored ten points along with six assists and four steals.
Pine Forest's loss came despite strong showings from Malachi Cooke and Nehemiah Mcdonald. Cooke almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds, while Mcdonald scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. Mcdonald has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times he's played. Dwayne Johnson was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Triton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Pine Forest, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Triton will take on Overhills at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pine Forest, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Harnett Central at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th. Hopefully Pine Forest focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday.
