This season hasn't been kind to the Dunellen Destroyers, who are still winless after their fourth contest. They fell 58-50 to Calvary Christian on Thursday. The game was a 22-22 toss-up at halftime, but Dunellen was outscored by Calvary Christian in the second.
Several Destroyers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jamael Davis, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. Davis is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Vibert Reynolds was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Dunellen were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Dunellen bumped their record down to 0-4 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Calvary Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dunellen will finish 2023 at home by hosting Academy for Urban Leadership Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Calvary Christian will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Dunellen at 5:30 p.m. on January 24, 2024.
