Basketball Recap: St. Vincent De Paul Academy's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Independence Home School came into Wednesday's contest looking for another win against St. Vincent de Paul Academy, but Leo Hodal wouldn't allow it. The Hawks really took it to the Lions for the full four quarters, racking up a 49-16 victory for which the team can thank Hodal, who posted 13 points along with five assists and four steals. He has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Stegall, who scored two points and seven steals. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.5 steals per game.

Coincidentally, St. Vincent de Paul Academy and Independence Home School will both be playing Chesterton Academy of St. Philip Neri the next time they take the court. The Hawks will host the Crusaders at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Lions will host them at 5:00 p.m. on January 16, 2026.
