Even though the South Panola Tigers scored an imposing 55 points on Tuesday, the Palmer Dragons still came out on top. Palmer enjoyed a cozy 69-55 victory over South Panola.
South Panola's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Cameron Griffin, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds, and Demartric Houston who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Those 13 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Keylan Bibbs, who scored six points.
Even though they lost, South Panola were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. This was only their eighth loss (out of ten games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Palmer pushed their record up to 5-7 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points per game. As for South Panola, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palmer will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ingomar at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. As for South Panola, they will head out on the road to face off against Caldwell County at 8:15 p.m. on Friday.
