The Maple Heights Mustangs are taking a road trip to challenge the Bedford Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Maple Heights is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65 points per game this season.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 93-55, which was the final score in Maple Heights' tilt against Garfield Heights on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 187th, while the Bulldogs are ranked sixth).

Despite the defeat, Maple Heights got top-tier performance from Kaelon Hurt, who posted 26 points. The game was Hurt's third in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalin Allen, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, Bedford had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 60-54 W against the Titans. The score was all tied up 28-28 at the break, but the Bearcats were the better team in the second half.
Bedford's win came from a few key players Maple Heights will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Terrell Pollard, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last 19 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kevin Woodgett III, who had 14 points along with seven assists and five boards.
Maple Heights has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. As for Bedford, their record is now 15-7.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest-scoring teams around. Maple Heights hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 65 points per game. However, it's not like Bedford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 58.5 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can put up more.
Maple Heights came up short against Bedford when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 60-53. Can Maple Heights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
