Softball Recap: Eaton Rapids Makes It Seven in a Row on the Road

Eaton Rapids won the last time they faced Springport and things went their way on Friday too. The Greyhounds were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Spartans. The result was nothing new for the Greyhounds, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Ari Brooks looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Madaelen Putnam was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cheyenne Drinkwater, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Eaton Rapids lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Eaton Rapids pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Springport, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eaton Rapids will welcome Olivet at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Springport, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bronson at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
