WF West is a perfect 10-0 against Aberdeen since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Bearcats will take on the Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. WF West will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
WF West will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Tumwater, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bearcats came out on top against the Thunderbirds by a score of 5-1 on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Aberdeen challenged Centralia on Tuesday. The Bobcats blew past the Tigers 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won seven contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Gabe Matthews and Chad Fretts made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Matthews pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Fretts pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. At bat, Matthews went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Fretts went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aidan Baker, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Aberdeen is undefeated when Baker posts two or more runs, but 7-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Donovaan Hedgpeth, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs.
Aberdeen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Aberdeen is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for WF West, they pushed their record up to 20-2-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Everything went WF West's way against Aberdeen when the teams last played two weeks ago, as WF West made off with a 6-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bearcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
