The Boone Braves had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 60-51 win over Wildwood.
Boone's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mckenna Murphy, who scored 25 points along with 4 steals. The contest was Murphy's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Danika Ballard, who scored 17 points.
Wildwood's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zoey Brown, who scored 10 points along with 7 assists and 7 rebounds. Brown is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinidy Harris, who scored 24 points.
Even though they lost, Wildwood were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Boone only racked up seven.
Boone's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Wildwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Boone will take on Olympia at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wildwood, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Mount Dora Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m.
