The Klawock Chieftains pushed their score all the way to 61 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 71-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Susitna Valley. Klawock has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Several Chieftains players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marley Kness, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds. Kness has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last three times he's played. Tristin Ryno was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Klawock's loss dropped their record down to 16-5. As for Susitna Valley, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-8.
Klawock didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 73-64 win vs. Non Varsity Opponent on the 10th. Susitna Valley has also already played their next match, a 43-27 defeat against Petersburg on the 10th.
