Horizon is preparing for their first  region matchup of the season  on Monday. They and the Campo Verde Coyotes will meet in a dog eat dog contest  at 3:45  p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Horizon has four straight  wins, Campo Verde has three straight  losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
While Horizon didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with  a   7-2  victory over Pinnacle  on Friday.
 Rio Ryu spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned  (and one unearned) run on two hits.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Jackson Weber, who  went 3-for-4 with one  home run, three  RBI,  and two  runs. That  home run was  his first of the season. Another player making a difference was  Chris Quigg, who  scored two  runs while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Campo Verde didn't have quite enough to beat Santiago on Wednesday and fell  5-4.
Campo Verde also got a good showing from  Anthony Flacco, who   tossed 3.1 innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. The dominant performance gave  Flacco a new career-low in  hits.
 At the plate, Campo Verde saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Wyatt Rauch, who  scored a  run while going 1-for-2.
 Campo Verde's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Horizon, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.
