The Aquinas Monarchs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight defeat. They took a 56-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Grand Island Central Catholic. Aquinas was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crusaders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Aquinas still got an impressive performance from Bryant Stouffer, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Garett Novacek, who scored 11 points.
Thomas Liban continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Grand Island Central Catholic, scoring 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Braylon Wolfe was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Aquinas' defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Grand Island Central Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aquinas will take on the Crusaders on Saturday. As for Grand Island Central Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against the Minutemen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
