Baseball Game Preview: Caroline Cavaliers vs. Eastern View Cyclones

The Caroline Cavaliers will face off against the Eastern View Cyclones at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Eastern View will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Caroline extended their winning streak to three on Monday. The Cavaliers blew past James Monroe 8-1.

The team relied heavily on Alex Thomas, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Caroline: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 6-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Chayce Gustard, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Caroline was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as James Monroe only posted a batting average of .087.

Meanwhile, Eastern View hadn't done well against Culpeper County recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Cyclones were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Blue Devils. The result was nothing new for the Cyclones, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Eastern View and bumps their season record up to 14-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Caroline, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.

Caroline was able to grind out a solid win over Eastern View in their previous matchup back in April, winning 9-5. Will the Cavaliers repeat their success, or do the Cyclones have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
