Softball Recap: Methacton Gets the Win

Methacton's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Upper Perkiomen Indians, sneaking past 7-5. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won four in a row.

Sadie Fitch was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sydney Hockenbrock, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kaitlin Pettine, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Methacton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Upper Perkiomen only posted a batting average of .115.

Methacton's record now sits at 10-8. As for Upper Perkiomen, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11-1 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Methacton will take on Boyertown at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Upper Perkiomen, they will challenge Spring-Ford at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
