The Goodpasture Christian Cougars will square off against the Nashville Christian Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Goodpasture Christian is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
Goodpasture Christian blew Davidson Academy out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Davidson Academy got their revenge. Goodpasture Christian fell just short of Davidson Academy by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Cougars have suffered against the Bears since April 11, 2022.
Brooklyn Jones was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Laura Beth Blessing was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Nashville Christian). They never let Clarksville Academy get on the board and left with a 21-0 win on Friday. With that victory, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 7.8 runs per game.
Anadia Hinton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Addison Oberbreckling was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hillary Harris, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
Nashville Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .769. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win made it two in a row for Nashville Christian and bumps their season record up to 2-4. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 18.5 hits in those games compared to only 3.75 in the others. As for Goodpasture Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Goodpasture Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .344. However, it's not like Nashville Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .456. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
