Peotone has gone a perfect 5-0 against Grant Park recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Blue Devils will take on the Dragons at 4:30 p.m. Peotone hasn't scored more than a single run for four games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.
On Tuesday, Peotone came up short against Reed-Custer and fell 4-1.
Peotone saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jillian Roark, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, Grant Park strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Momence, sneaking past 5-3.
Cheyenne Hayes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adelyn Karstensen, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Reegan Thompson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Grant Park lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in March of 2025.
Peotone's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Grant Park, their record now sits at 13-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Peotone has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 13.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Grant Park struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 11.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Peotone came out on top in a nail-biter against Grant Park in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
