The Quinter Bulldogs had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They managed a 48-44 win over Victoria. That's another feather in the cap for Quinter, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Quinter can attribute much of their success to Shea Salyers, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 17 rebounds. Gunner Catura was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Despite the loss, Victoria still got an impressive performance from Seth Schwien, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Quincy Pickering, who scored 13 points.
Even though they lost, Victoria were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Quinter only posted three.
Quinter's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Victoria, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Quinter will take on Wheatland-Grinnell at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Victoria, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Osborne on Tuesday.
