While the Watertown Indians couldn't quite beat the Kennedy Eagles on Wednesday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 20-point loss they were dealt last Friday. Watertown fell just short of Kennedy by a score of 60-58. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Watertown in their matchups with Kennedy: they've now lost nine in a row.
Watertown's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Justin Davis, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Davis has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was John Platt, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Watertown bumped their record down to 2-8 with that loss, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Kennedy, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Watertown will take on Derby at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Derby is ranked 142nd, while Watertown is ranked 159th). As for Kennedy, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Ansonia at 7:00 p.m.
