Two dominant signal callers in Jack Hurst and Carter Vestermark are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Laguna Beach Breakers will host the Aliso Niguel Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Aliso Niguel will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Laguna Beach extended their winning streak to seven on Friday. The Breakers blew past Fountain Valley, posting a 63-18 victory. With the Breakers ahead 49-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Laguna Beach can attribute much of their success to Charlie Christian, who gained 128 total yards and two touchdowns, and Grant Regal, who picked up 58 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Regal also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making three total tackles and defending one pass. Brady Stringham was another key receiver, picking up 98 receiving yards and one TD.
Meanwhile, Aliso Niguel humbled Northwood with a 42-3 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Wolverines' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 161st, while the Timberwolves are ranked 358th).
Aliso Niguel's win came from a few key players Laguna Beach will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Hunter Hagins, who picked up 103 receiving yards and one score. He really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 91 yards. Another pass catcher making a difference was Dane Malloy, who picked up 87 receiving yards and one touchdown.
Aliso Niguel's run defense was locked in: Northwood could only muster 2.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Corey Lewis for the heroic effort on defense: he. Aliso Niguel's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.9.
Aliso Niguel's defense didn't let Dylan D'Epifanio, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Cash Jackson with two. Another thorn in Northwood's side was Lewis, who picked up a sack and made seven total tackles (4.0 for loss).
Laguna Beach's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Aliso Niguel, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Laguna Beach suffered a grim 34-14 defeat to Aliso Niguel in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Breakers, Jarett Sabol (who rushed for 195 yards and a pair of TDs, and also picked up 51 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time.
