The Mandarin Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Ribault Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Mandarin has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Mandarin has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 43 points or more this season. They took their contest on the road on Thursday with ease, bagging a 74-30 victory over Stanton. With Mandarin ahead 48-18 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Mandarin can attribute much of their success to Mia Chandler, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Nykeria Thomas, who scored 18 points along with 7 rebounds. The contest was Thomas' third in a row with at least ten points. Kiyana Hunter was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Meanwhile, Ribault struggled with assists on Friday (Bishop Kenny had 1900% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Ribault was the victim of a rough 62-36 defeat at the hands of Bishop Kenny. While losing is never fun, Ribault can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Bishop Kenny is ranked 18th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Terryanna Medlock, who scored 10 points along with 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Kayla Massey, who scored 12 points.
Their wins bumped Mandarin to 5-0 and Stanton to 2-3.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Mandarin hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 55.2 points per game. It's a different story for Ribault, though, as they've been averaging only 47 per game. The only thing between Mandarin and another offensive beatdown is Ribault. Will they be able to keep them contained? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
Mandarin didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Ribault in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 54-48 win. Does Mandarin have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ribault turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
