The Brookfield Academy Blue Knights will venture away from home to face off against the Lake Country Lutheran Lightning at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Country Lutheran took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Brookfield Academy, who comes in off a win.
Brookfield Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past St. Francis 5-4. While the Blue Knights didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Patrick Mahoney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

Grant Manthei was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Manthei, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Brookfield Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Country Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
Both Brookfield Academy and Lake Country Lutheran just can't seem to miss. The Blue Knights have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Lake Country Lutheran struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Brookfield Academy might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Lake Country Lutheran in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Blue Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
