Pleasanton has gone a perfect 3-0 against South Loup recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bulldogs will look to defend their home field against South Loup at 7:00 p.m. Pleasanton is looking for their season's first win.
Pleasanton is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They fell 50-45 to Arcadia/Loup City on Friday. While the Bulldogs had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Rebels 12-8.
Pleasanton's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Sam Smith, who gained 178 total yards and four touchdowns, and Brennan Lindner, who gained 318 total yards and two touchdowns. Smith didn't just play on offense: he also forced one fumble and made 17 total tackles.
Meanwhile, South Loup owes their defense a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 28-0 victory over West Holt. South Loup pushed the score to 20-0 by the end of the third, a deficit West Holt had little chance of recovering from.
South Loup had a senior duo take command as Dylan Pandorf rushed for 140 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries and Conner Paulsen rushed for 133 yards and one score. Those 140 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Pandorf.
The win made it two in a row for South Loup and bumps their season record up to 2-3. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.0 points over those games. As for Pleasanton, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
Thursday's contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Lindner and Pandorf. Lindner just won't slow down this season and has thrown 10 touchdowns while averaging 206.4 passing yards per game. Pandorf has been a dominant force too and has thrown 3 touchdowns while averaging 70.2 passing yards per game.
Everything came up roses for Pleasanton against South Loup in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 50-22 win. In that game, the Bulldogs amassed a halftime lead of 38-16, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
