Basketball Recap: Josieraye Running Wolf's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mountain Range over Eagle Valley

After flying high against Wheat Ridge last Tuesday, Mountain Range came back down to earth. The Mountain Range Mustangs took a 54-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagle Valley Devils on Thursday.

Mountain Range lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Josieraye Running Wolf, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 18 points and three steals. The matchup was Running Wolf's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Delilah Lucero, who posted eight points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eagle Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zakia Shreeve, who had 11 points and eight steals. Shreeve has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Abby Talbot was another key player, going 5 of 7 on her way to 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Mountain Range now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Eagle Valley, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.

Mountain Range didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-49 defeat against Rampart on the 13th. As for Eagle Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 51-47 loss against Loveland on the 13th.
