Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 17 to 4 on the offensive boards, a fact the Grantsville Cowboys proved on Friday. They managed a 53-48 victory over Cyprus. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Grantsville also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2016.
Avery Allred continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Grantsville's points. Renn White was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Despite the loss, Cyprus saw an underclassman step up: Veanna Pauu scored 15 points along with 7 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Amelia Echternkamp, who scored 12 points.
Grantsville's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Cyprus, their loss dropped their record down to 2-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grantsville will take on Manti at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cyprus, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Corner Canyon at 7:00 p.m. Corner Canyon has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 257 points over their last four matchups.
