Jasper County gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 34-24 win over the Taylor County Vikings. The Hurricanes' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Chance Ross had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 35 receiving yards and one score. JaMarkus Thomas was another key player, rushing for 80 yards on only seven carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Jasper County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 282 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 179 rushing yards in four consecutive games dating back to last season.

Another reason for the win was Jasper County's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks.
