Volleyball Recap: Hillcrest Comes Up Short

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Hillcrest and Waynesville meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. The Hornets fell 2-0 to the Tigers. The Hornets have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Hillcrest couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Waynesville a tough time in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 31-29, 25-16.

Alyssa Brison paced Hillcrest's offense, picking up nine kills. Brison got some help from KeAshza Roy and her 20 assists. Molly Percival controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Hillcrest's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7-1. As for Waynesville, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3.

Hillcrest wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Joplin on the 13th. As for Waynesville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 win against Lebanon on the 13th.
