After flying high against the North Florida Educational Institute Fighting Eagles on Tuesday, the Palm Bay Pirates came back down to earth. Palm Bay took a 39-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dr. Phillips. Palm Bay was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Dr. Phillips apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2021.
Palm Bay's loss on Friday came despite strong showings from Jaida Civil and Natalie Allen. Civil dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds, while Allen scored 14 points. Civil scored a full 47.1% of Palm Bay's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Palm Bay now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Dr. Phillips, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Palm Bay is on the road again on Saturday and play against Colonial at 4:30 p.m. on November 25th. Colonial is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. As for Dr. Phillips, they will be playing at home against D at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in the nation (D is ranked 12th, while Dr. Phillips is ranked 18th).
