The Midlothian Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Seguin Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Midlothian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday.
Midlothian suffered their closest defeat since December 1, 2023 on Wednesday. They fell just short of Mansfield Timberview by a score of 42-39. It was the first time this season that Midlothian let down their fans at home.
Despite their loss, Midlothian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Alex Gilmore, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Tennison, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, even though Joshua scored an imposing 71 points on Wednesday, Seguin still came out on top. Seguin managed a 75-71 victory over Joshua. Given Seguin's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 342nd, while Joshua is ranked 873rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Midlothian's loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-10. As for Seguin, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-11.
Midlothian didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Seguin when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 64-59 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Midlothian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
