The Hedley Owls's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their tenth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Valley, falling 59-25. While losing is never fun, Hedley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1521st, while Valley is ranked 82nd).
Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emberlynn Mullin led the charge by scoring 22 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Pigg, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Hedley dropped their record down to 2-19 with that loss, which was their 15th straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.6 points per game. As for Valley, the victory (which was their 26th in a row) raised their record to 26-2.
Hedley will be playing at home against Silverton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Valley, they will head out on the road to take on White Deer at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. White Deer has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
