The McCamey Badgers will square off against the Reagan County Owls at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. McCamey is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
McCamey's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Van Horn with a sharp 11-0 win. The Badgers haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Steven Rodriguez made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because McCamey is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-9 otherwise. Rodriguez was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Ruben Baeza and Niko Lujan did most of the damage at the plate: Baeza went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Lujan went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI. Lujan is becoming a predictor of McCamey's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 7-9 when he doesn't). Aiden Torres was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Reagan County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Forsan, falling 11-4.
Reagan County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Edgar Jaime, who went 1-for-2 with one run. Another was Marcus Vargas, who earned one run and two stolen bases.
Reagan County's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for McCamey, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. McCamey has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Reagan County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
McCamey beat Reagan County 7-3 in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Badgers repeat their success, or do the Owls have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
