The Handley Judges have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 33 points or more this season. They took their contest on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 46-13 win over Kettle Run. Given Handley's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Kettle Run is ranked 144th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ava Prysock and Mary Bernard certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Prysock scored six points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Bernard scored two points. Prysock scored a full 46.2% of Kettle Run's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Kettle Run struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
The win for Handley keeps them at an undefeated 4-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Kettle Run, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Handley will be playing in front of their home fans against Sherando at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Kettle Run, they will head out on the road to face off against James Wood at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully James Wood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
