Galena is 8-2 against Warren since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Galena Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Warren Warriors at 7:00 p.m. The pair are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
A well-balanced attack led Galena over South Beloit in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Galena blew past South Beloit 71-47. The victory was familiar territory for Galena who now have three in a row.
Galena relied on the efforts of Kaden Hauber, who scored 25 points, and Connor Glasgow, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hauber has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Drew Keonigs, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Warren waltzed into their game on Monday with three straight wins but they left with four. They put the hurt on Pecatonica with a sharp 70-50 win.
Warren got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Treyton Pafford out in front who scored 28 points. Pafford hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. Teagan Sabinson was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Galena's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 18-10. As for Warren, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-14 record this season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's matchup: Galena have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 43.7% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Warren, though, as they've only made 28% of their threes this season. Given Galena's sizable advantage in that area, Warren will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything went Galena's way against Warren in their previous matchup back in January as Galena made off with a 56-36 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Galena since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
