Softball Recap: Fremont Wins Going Away Against Lynbrook

Fremont got themselves on the board against Lynbrook on Friday, but Lynbrook never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 17-0 win. The Firebirds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Charlene Hiek made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over 4.2 innings pitched. Hiek was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with four runs and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jiyah Caban, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. Victoria Ledezma was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI.

Fremont is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lynbrook, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Fremont will square off against rival Santa Clara at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Lynbrook is set to take on their familiar foe MacDonald at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
