The Central Tigers are ranked highly in their home state, and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the Duncanville Panthers and Pantherettes. Central was outmatched by Duncanville on the road and fell 67-39.
It was another big night for Mariah Clayton, who scored 26 points along with six rebounds and three steals for Duncanville. Those 26 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmine Gipson, who scored ten points.
Central's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Duncanville, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home.
Central will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bryant at 6:00 p.m. on January 9th. Duncanville won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against McEachern at 7:00 p.m. on December 30, 2023. McEachern will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 38th in Georgia, while Duncanville is ranked second in Texas).
