The Brandeis Bulldogs came tearing into Sunday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 48 points) and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-49 victory over King's Christian Academy.
King's Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Diallo Long, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Earl Edmonds, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Brandeis has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for King's Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-11.
Brandeis will be playing in front of their home fans against Seward Park at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Seward Park knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Brandeis likes a good challenge. As for King's Christian Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Takoma Academy at 7:00 p.m. on February 5th. Hopefully King's Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Sunday.
