The Hawley Bearcats and the Stratford Elks squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Hawley Bearcats had to settle for second. They were dealt a 46-6 defeat at the hands of the Elks. Hawley's loss signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.
Hawley's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Diontay Ramon, who picked up 205 receiving yards and a touchdown. Ramon's longest reception was for an incredible 99 yards.
It was another big night for Bryce Braden, who rushed for 161 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 128 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 passes for Stratford. The team also got some help courtesy of Julio Valdez, who picked up 118 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Stratford's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB eight times. The heavy lifting was done by Lane Uttley and Josue Licon who racked up five sacks between them.
Hawley's defeat dropped their record down to 11-3. As for Stratford, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.
Hawley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Stratford will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Tolar at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th. Tolar is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
