Regis Jesuit and Legacy are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the Lightning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Regis Jesuit has eight straight victories, Legacy has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Regis Jesuit is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Castle View, who was ranked ninth at the time (Regis Jesuit was ranked second). The Raiders blew past the Sabercats 17-10 on Friday. The Raiders' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Christian Lopez and Hudson Alpert made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Lopez pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Alpert tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Lopez got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Alpert went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Diesel Bernosky, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Cronin, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Regis Jesuit kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Legacy suffered their closest defeat since March 22nd on Thursday. They fell just short of Holy Family by a score of 6-4.
Jack Schoenheider and Jason Olsen stepped up to the plate in a big way. Schoenheider went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Olsen got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI. Another player making a difference was KC Reiser, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Regis Jesuit pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Legacy, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Regis Jesuit has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Legacy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Regis Jesuit took their win against Legacy when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
