The Tri-City Christian Eagles will square off against the Bishop's Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Tri-City Christian fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Coastal Academy on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Stingrays by a score of 14-13. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Eagles, who until this game were averaging 3.33 runs allowed.
Abby Lisak made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaedyn Ybarra, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Bishop's got themselves on the board against La Jolla Country Day on Thursday, but La Jolla Country Day never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Torreys. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Bailey Brightenburg was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Jessica Yao was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Bishop's was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Tri-City Christian moved to 13-4-1 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Bishop's, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6-1.
Tri-City Christian's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Eagles have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Bishop's, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Tri-City Christian continue to outrun the ball?
Tri-City Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Bishop's in their previous matchup back in April, winning 7-4. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
