The Hardee Wildcats suffered their biggest loss since December 8, 2023 on Thursday. They were beaten by Palmetto 60-28. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hardee in their matchups with Palmetto: they've now lost six in a row.
Hardee's loss came despite strong showings from Rihanna Frederick and Danaelle Pierre. Frederick scored ten points along with five rebounds and three blocks, while Pierre scored four points along with five rebounds and two steals. Pierre hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games.
Hardee struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Palmetto posted ten assists.
Saniya Moody went supernova for Palmetto, scoring four points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Moody has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Solaura Glover, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Hardee has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Palmetto, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hardee won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Mulberry at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Mulberry focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 last Tuesday. As for Palmetto, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Manatee at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Manatee's defense has only allowed 29.1 points per game this season, so Palmetto's offense will have their work cut out for them.
