The Colton-Pierrepont Colts will head out on the road to challenge the Parishville-Hopkinton Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Saturday, Colton-Pierrepont was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 47-46 to Boquet Valley. While losing is never fun, Colton-Pierrepont can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 565th, while Boquet Valley is ranked 242nd).
Despite their defeat, Colton-Pierrepont saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Eric Friedel, who scored 21 points along with four steals, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 45.7% of Colton-Pierrepont's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Nate Smith, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Parishville-Hopkinton, who are still winless after their fourth game. They were dealt a 91-34 defeat at the hands of Tupper Lake on Tuesday. Parishville-Hopkinton has struggled against Tupper Lake recently, as their game on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Colton-Pierrepont now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Parishville-Hopkinton, they bumped their record down to 0-4 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Colton-Pierrepont took their win against Parishville-Hopkinton in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 52-26. With Colton-Pierrepont ahead 35-11 at the half, the game was all but over already.
