Pine Valley Central hasn't had much luck against Forestville Central recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 5:00 p.m. Pine Valley Central has given up an average of 7.8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
It was a proper cat-fight when Pine Valley Central took on Cassadaga Valley two weeks ago. The Panthers fell 17-13 to the Cougars. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game two weeks ago (11), the Panthers still had to take the loss.
Destiny Lindquist made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Rinehart, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Meanwhile, Forestville Central gave up the first runs two weeks ago, but they didn't let that get them down. They won by a run and slipped past Westfield 7-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.
Megan Gruber was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. Gruber was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emily Lilllie, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Elizabeth Case was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Having lost for the first time this season, Pine Valley Central fell to 3-1. As for Forestville Central, their record now sits at 2-0.
Pine Valley Central suffered a grim 19-2 defeat to Forestville Central in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
