North Callaway is 7-1 against Mark Twain since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The North Callaway Thunderbirds will head out on the road to square off against the Mark Twain Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Saturday, North Callaway suffered a rough 71-45 loss at the hands of Sacred Heart. While losing is never fun, North Callaway can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 474th, while Sacred Heart is ranked 136th).
The losing side was boosted by Sam Pezold, who scored 15 points. He hasn't dropped below 15 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Austin Brown, who scored five points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Mark Twain's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their eighth straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Elsberry, falling 68-34. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mark Twain in their matchups with Elsberry: they've now lost eight in a row.
North Callaway has not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season. As for Mark Twain, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-18.
North Callaway was able to grind out a solid win over Mark Twain in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 70-62. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Mark Twain's Josh Brothers, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for North Callaway to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
