The Hartsville Red Foxes on the road again on Monday and play against the Lee Central Stallions at 8:00 p.m. on January 15th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Hartsville is ranked 164th, while Lee Central is ranked 160th).
Hartsville suffered their closest loss yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of North Myrtle Beach by a score of 53-50.
Hartsville's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Dorian Knowles, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds, and EJ Smith who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Knowles has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Shahquan Pendergrass, who scored five points.
Meanwhile, Lee Central's three-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 49-48 victory over Socastee. The score was all tied up 24-24 at the break, but Lee Central was the better team in the second half.
Lee Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kiauj Allen out in front who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Rjay Spann, who scored six points along with seven assists and two steals.
Hartsville has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Lee Central, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.
Hartsville was able to grind out a solid win over Lee Central when the teams last played last Saturday, winning 62-50. Does Hartsville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lee Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
