The Campbell County Camels will head out to face off against the Worland Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Campbell County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13.3 runs per game this season.
Campbell County is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Wyoming's top teams: Thunder Basin, who was ranked first at the time (Campbell County was ranked second). The Camels skirted past the Bolts 14-12.
Bayley Gray was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Courtney Thayer was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Campbell County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Worland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Natrona County, falling 23-9. On the bright side, the nine- run performance marked the Warriors' highest-scoring game to date.
Molly Glanz was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Aedyn Donahue, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Campbell County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Worland, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.
Worland's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Campbell County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .457. It's a different story for Worland, though, as they've only averaged .236. Will they be able to contain Campbell County's hitters?
Everything went Campbell County's way against Worland in their previous matchup back in March, as Campbell County made off with a 16-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Camels since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
