Rising Tide couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a serious blow against Avon on Friday, falling 62-32. Rising Tide was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-12.
Avon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Thomas Edwards led the charge by scoring 24 points along with five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Edwards has scored at least 25% of Avon's points. Another player making a difference was Josiah Guerrier, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Rising Tide's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Avon, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Rising Tide will be home for the holidays to greet Atlantis at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Avon, they will head out on the road to face off against Norfolk County Agricultural at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
